Approvals: what you need to know
Most of our customers set the Savanna Pod up on a registered trailer (sold separately), which means it's treated as a tiny home on wheels rather than a building. There's no building permit or engineering certification involved. Instead, you apply to your local council for a temporary accommodation approval, which can be granted for up to two years at a time and renewed.
The Savanna Pod is not certified to the National Construction Code (NCC), so it isn't suited to being fixed permanently to the ground as a dwelling without further works and certification.
Connection to your property's power and water must be done by a licensed electrician and plumber.
Any approvals for your site are your responsibility as the owner, so we always suggest a quick chat with your council about your plans. We can provide the specs, photos and test reports your council will ask for.
